So a couple of days ago (28th of December) I came across a 3 character PR2 .US domain which I decided to register. However, once I did that I was stuck as to what I could do with it until Eric suggested using it as a domain shortener. He suggested a page looking at some scripts, but none of them had what I was hoping for.

I wanted something which had a modern minimal feel to it, with some AJAX applied to make it easy for the user. I stumbled on “Shorten This Damn Link” which had EVERYTHING I wanted. I wanted that script. It was just pure perfection!

I was then delighted to find that I can get hold of it on CodeCanyon for only $8 from here: No-mouse URL Shortener with API and Bookmarklet

Now, I’ve set up my very own URL shortening service over at Domain Shortening. It was extremely easy to set up, once the config file was set up it was plain sailing. One suggestion is an installer which would create the config file and also install the database, but that’s not a problem at all, especially if you work with PHP and MySQL day in and out.

Only problem is I am struggle a bit customizing the template to add a logo, for some reason the HTML is written yet isn’t visible.. so we’ll see how that pans out
